Remove a container<\/span><\/h3>\n
This will remove the container referenced under the link <\/span>\/redis<\/code><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
$ docker rm \/redis<\/span>\n\u200b<\/span><\/span>\n\/redis<\/span><\/pre>\n
Remove a link specified with <\/span>--link<\/code><\/span> on the default bridge network<\/span><\/h3>\n
This will remove the underlying link between <\/span>\/webapp<\/code><\/span> and the <\/span>\/redis<\/code><\/span> containers on the default bridge network, removing all network communication between the two containers. This does not apply when <\/span>--link<\/code><\/span> is used with user-specified networks.<\/span><\/p>\n
$ docker rm --link \/webapp\/redis<\/span>\n\u200b<\/span><\/span>\n\/webapp\/redis<\/span><\/pre>\n
Force-remove a running container<\/span><\/h3>\n
This command will force-remove a running container.<\/span><\/p>\n
$ docker rm --force redis<\/span>\n\u200b<\/span><\/span>\nredis<\/span><\/pre>\n
The main process inside the container referenced under the link <\/span>redis<\/code><\/span> will receive <\/span>SIGKILL<\/code><\/span>, then the container will be removed.<\/span><\/p>\n
Remove all stopped containers<\/span><\/h3>\n
$ docker rm $(docker ps -a -q)<\/span><\/pre>\n
This command will delete all stopped containers. The command <\/span>docker ps -a -q<\/code><\/span> will return all existing container IDs and pass them to the <\/span>rm<\/code><\/span> command which will delete them. Any running containers will not be deleted.<\/span><\/p>\n
Remove a container and its volumes<\/span><\/h3>\n
$ docker rm -v redis<\/span>\nredis<\/span><\/pre>\n
This command will remove the container and any volumes associated with it. Note that if a volume was specified with a name, it will not be removed.<\/span><\/p>\n
Remove a container and selectively remove volumes<\/span><\/h3>\n
$ docker create -v awesome:\/foo -v \/bar --name hello redis<\/span>\nhello<\/span>\n$ docker rm -v hello<\/span><\/pre>\n
In this example, the volume for <\/span>\/foo<\/code><\/span> will remain intact, but the volume for <\/span>\/bar<\/code><\/span> will be removed. The same behavior holds for volumes inherited with <\/span>--volumes-from<\/code><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
